Review 1
Something Cool is Christy's signature album and her finest collaboration with Pete Rugolo. Drawn from 1953-1955 sessions, Something Cool combined little known gems with more common standards. The orchestra consisted of the cream of LA, first-call musicians versed in the discipline of studio work but with an affinity for jazz and an ability to swing.
Something Cool quickly became a best seller beyond the jazz market. In fact, it proved so popular that Christy and Rugolo re-recorded all eleven songs in 1960 for the stereo market, using many of the key players such as Bud Shank who had participated in the original recordings. Now for the first time, both versions are available in the original LP sequence on one CD, newly remastered in 24-bit from the original tapes.
