Review 1
In previous outings Purrone has explored and demonstrated his knowledge of the guitar's history in jazz by performing stylings originated by the likes of Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, and Grant Green among others. "One of today's unsung heroes of the guitar with chops to burn." Chris Hovan - All About Jazz - Purrone describes this his fifth effort for SteepleChase as follows: "I had been waiting to put together a group with an electronic edge and explore the possibilities for a long time, and this is it!" He does it over eight tunes ranging from Shorter's "Fall" to Carla Bley's "Sing me Softly of The Blues". With this trio Purrone gets it on! Not to be missed. Featuring Tony Purrone (guitar), Dave Anderson (electric bass), and Thierry Arpino (drums). |
