Review 1
Kontomanou and long time accompanist Plic emigrated from her native country of France to New York City in the early 90's and have successfully integrated their unique stylings into American Jazz in collaboration with Sam Newsome. Kontomanou's voice is most often employed in a purely instrumental role without the crutches of lyrics and the results are extraordinary and unique. All compositions on the CD, excepting one penned by J.D. Allen, are Kontomanou originals. |
