 Review 1
"Just in time" was exactly what it was. Believe it or not, this is the debut recording as a leader for Larry Willis who's been known more for his stint in the rock-pop genre as the pianist with Blood, Sweat and Tears (1972-78). But Larry the jazz pianist has also a substantial back-ground playing with Woody Shaw, Stan Getz, Freddie Hubbard just to mention a few.
The rave reviews about this first leader album include: "This album shows a mature stylist, immersed in the language of Bill Evans, in complete control of the architecture and drama of each solo. Willis is right at home with Kenny Washington, as well as with elder statesman Bob Cranshaw on bass.." (Cadence)
"I didn't know too much about Larry Willis before hearing his album. This was my loss, because he is a most satisfying pianist...one of the most integrated and cohesive recordings I've heard for some time. ...Good playing time, excellent sound and some fine music makes this a most commendable package." (Jazz Journal)
