 Review 1
This is a recording that came out of two evenings of concerts at Copenhagen's famous Montmartre Jazzhus with the club's very best rhythm section led by Mclean's friend from childhood pianist Kenny Drew. The summer of 1973 was a very busy season for the alto giant Jackie McLean, recording four albums for SteepleChase during the month of July including this one.
McLean (b. May 17, 1932 in New York) made his recording debut in the Miles Davis album "Dig" for Prestige at the age of 19 and played with a host of great names of jazz such as Thelomious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Charlie Parker, Charles Minugs, Art Blakey , Miles Davis.
