Review 1
Los Angeles-based Electrostatic is an electronica band that brings excellent offerings of breakbeat-based techno grooves to the table. Formed by Mike Thibeau (bass, keyboards and programming), Rob Gardner (drums and programming) and Japanese singer/songwriter Kaoru. This band has seen its music quickly rise above the stagnant pond of nameless generic electronica to become something that will be listened to long after the dance dust settles.
The band is well known in the world of online music, having close to one million downloads from online music sites. They have also been named the best electronic act of 1999 on MP3.com.
Electrostatic has received critical acclaim "offline" from magazines like XLR8R and Revolution. The trio has made quite a name for themselves in the television and film industry, having licensed music to shows on MTV, NBC, the Fox Sports Network and the WB Network, as well as major motion pictures like The Matrix Revisited, Valentine (Warner Bros. Pictures) and X-Change (Tri-Mark Pictures).
Electrostatic also has a reputation for their high energy live performances, and has played many high profile shows at world famous venues such as L.A.'s Viper Room, Whisky A Go-Go, and The Roxy Theater, as well as the 2000 Vans Warped Tour in Anaheim, CA and the 2000 NXNW Music Conference.
Electrostatic's 1st Offical CD release is only just now hitting record stores nationwide. AWAKE ALONE contains 9 brand new songs and remixes as well as a Windows and Macintosh compatible CD ROM, which includes the full length music video for the 1st single "STAYAWAKE", photo galleries, web links and much more. |
