Review 1
As promised, J Curve Cincinnati Jazz Collection Vol. II is here and offers an even more eclectic and diverse sampling of the jazz styles performed in the Queen City. As a follow-up to Volume I, released in 1998, these 12 cuts (including 5 originals) present vocal performances, big band, quintet, quartet, trio, Latin, contemporary fusion and other dialects of the jazz language. The Cincinnati jazz scene has a long and rich tradition and historian William Lawless Jones reflects on the role this city has had on the development of the music and upon its own unique personality. Including a 16- page booklet with photos and complete annotation, this disc provides a window to the excellent jazz being performed in the Cincinnati area. |
